After time spent in the graphic field, pervaded by continuous mind-blowing mutations on my etching metal plate, I developed a pathway which adapted perfectly to my way of conceiving the plasticity of the matter I treated. My analysis began from a particular way of interpreting figurative art – the representation of an urban landscape which twists and contracts on itself, assuming the form of an imaginary “toy”. My representation becomes more and more personal and unconscious, investigating within my inner self, by means which I felt I had to invent by myself and which would corrode the matter with a certain strength and rage, in this way giving vent to what turns out to be my final concept. I therefore approached abstraction, with the awareness that representation is not in itself a goal, meaning a splash of colours modified according to my mood, but it represents an “Ideal City”, a moving object, which in a way conceals the figurative subject, but only under its surface. These shapeless cities or urban conglomerates mix buildings and humans, they run and develop expanding this volume, creating new spaces and widening their horizons. This is exactly what I represent in my cities, an urban conglomeration which is seen, if we can say so, from a “divine” point of observation (from above), which grows horizontally and climbs up, in the attempt of reaching the sky above. In a superimposition of spaces and surfaces which conceal or shed light on particular elements, which can be summarized as symbols of our times such as houses, palaces, skyscrapers, squares, towers or busy streets.
